KERMADEC 07.tif
Splendid by name, splendid by nature, the splendid hawkfish (right) holds dual residency, being common to the Kermadecs Islands as well as Lord Howe Island and Norfolk in the Tasman, and islands fringing Australia. Although the larvae have a swim bladder, adult hawkfish don’t, so can often be found resting in crevices of rocks or among the branches of corals and gorgonian fans.
