SOUTHERN RIGHT WHALE 23.TIF
A tohorā calf breaches, landing on its back. There are now so many whales breeding in Port Ross it’s likely some mothers are looking for alternative breeding sites. The closest suitable spots are Rakiura/Stewart Island and the southern coasts of the South Island, where a number of calves have already been born.
